THANK YOU for all the love and support you have sent my way asking about my family in southeast Texas (SETX). As of now my family is safe, dry and with power….but that isn’t the case for most people in SETX. Many have lost their homes, pets, belongings and have no idea whats next. It is heartbreaking. Whats NOT heartbreaking is watching everyone come together to help each other out. Below are a few ways I have seen of ways to help donate items and funds. I will add to this list and I discover more things and if you see other ways PLEASE contact me (Karen@LivingAmped.com) so I can add them as well.
In the summer of 1998 I fought my parents on moving to Texas, but it was the BEST thing we did. I am so proud to be a Texan. Watching everyone come together during this time of need brings on all the feels.
My personal favorite…this man has a huge heart is doing GREAT things to help offering rescues all over (including attempting to help my mom). He did not set this up, some one did it to help him. If you are wanting to support through funds I would recommend THIS a thousand times over!

GageHuntley. I have to admit that I don’t know much about the company, but I some how follow them on the Instagram. They created a cuff for Texas and stated that, “In the wake of this devastation I have decided to release this limited edition GAGEHUNTLEY.COM #texasstrong bracelet and donate a portion of the proceeds to local charities aiding the victims of of #hurricaneharvey. I am hoping we can all come together in solidarity. Show your support today. Sending love and prayers to all of the victims.” hand stamped 3/8″ x 6″ fully adjustable / unisex. SHOP HERE.
I found this on one of my favorite Texas country singers instagram page and I thought I would share. I don’t know anything about Mercury One, but I know Mr. Watson has a good heart. Mercury Ones site states, “Our donors and supporters have always been there in times of crisis – we know that with the devastation of Hurricane Harvey hitting our home state of Texas, you want to help. Mercury One will be collecting donations in response to the devastation wreaked by Mother Nature. Our partners are on the ground as we speak. We know that our donors and supporters appreciate that the money we collect can often times go much further because of our strong connection with partner organizations and our ability to use the money where it is needed the most. Below we highlight some of our partners’ responses – we are so thankful for their dedication to acting in times of crisis. Although we are fundraising for this disaster, we also invite you to donate directly to our partners if you see fit.” They have a list on their page of ways to do all these things, you can find that HERE.

Scroll down to “shelter availability reference”
That link opens a google document.
There are tabs with titles either at the top (if you’re on a laptop) or bottom (when I opened it on my iPhone).
Click the “shelters” tab.
There you will find a very long list of shelters, addresses and phone numbers.
There are shelters ALL OVER Texas so don’t just drive to the Houston area without a plan!
Call the shelters nearest you first. Ask them what they need before just showing up.
