This morning I left the casa at 6:30am headed to the gym. Since today was deadlift and bench day I wore my belt as I run…quite uncomfortable I might add. I always wear my SPI belt so I can have my phone and colones. I also have been calling it “Beach Body” however it is “Body Beach”….in spanish everything is backwards. You don’t say the adj 1st, you say the noun 1st. (Ejemplo: no negro cafe….cafe negro). Today I also brought my credit card so I could stop for Breakfast on the way home. I also had my roll of tape with me. I knew there were pull ups in today’s workouts and I didn’t know the bars. Thank goodness I had it because I was so sweaty and the bar was so slick I actually put just bit of tape on the bar to hold onto it. Sadly I didn’t get to max out on bench press, I didn’t have a spot and I wasn’t really sure how to ask for that in spanish…yet!
After the gym I ran to “The Coffee Shop”. I had bacon and eggs, iced coffee (w/dulce) AND yes that piece of bread. It came with my meal and it was made that morning. Plus it was the CLOSEST thing I have ever tasted to my great aunts homemade sour dough bread…aka Karen’s Good Bread! Maybe its also because I don’t eat bread…I couldn’t resist. It was good for the memory.
After breakfast I walked back to the escuela, Face Timed Mom/Duke, and got ready for Spanish. Duke was at home which made me happy. Sitting on mom’s ottoman. Now if he will just eat everything will be better. His blood levels are off but that is due to the fact he wont eat.
I walked into Spanish and they handed us Spanish 2 books!! YEA!! This doesn’t mean I’m any better, BUT I’m learning ALOT! They have medical spanish, construction spanish…where the heck is crossfit spanish! Anywhoo…during our lesson today a “lizard” crawled across the wall…this sucker was like a foot long….thats a stegosaurus if you ask me! I tried to get a pic but didn’t work!
Spanish lab today was fun! We had to describe la fruta y vegetal. We started with accions but we liked having to use spanish words to describir. We agreed tomorrow that we will go to Soda to practice ordering from a menu y other stuff! Yo estoy feliz!
After lab I had 2 hours before surfing. I read and took a nap. Then headed to to meet everyone for surfing! We meet by la piscina, loaded boards and headed to the beach. Again today I got to go play with the big waves…however it was much calmer than yesterday, doesn’t mean I drank any less ocean water. I did build my confidence mucho! I got up on a bunch of waves. I just need to learn when its a good wave so I can ride it in. You ride it feeling awesome then you have to work your a$$ off to get back out there. Worth it, but it is hard.
After surf I showered and face timed Duke/Mom. Duke was doing better, he was up and moving. Still not eating, but drinking ALOT of water. I am so happy to see him up and moving around vs lying down all the time. Duke was happy to see my Dad.
I decided to stay in tonight (trying to only eat out 1x/day) since I ate out for breakfast. I fixed a salad with toppings (plus I needed to eat the lettuce before I leave this weekend for my next adventure (but only for the weekend). Rumor had it people meet in the kitchen to eat or meet to go out to dinner. Therefore I saved all my blogging so I could go be productive and social. I think I will make this a habit. I’m at a table, people are eating/cooking, some are gathering to out so I’m getting to see those that are not in my Spanish class. I like this! I just got invited to go out with some girls here. Can’t stay out late because surf is at 6am…which means my workout is going to be later, post surf…SPARK IT UP…stay tuned!
