The best feeling of this workout was after they released this WOD Thursday night, many people text me and told me this was MY WOD! No lie, I was kinda excited about it. Due to clients traveling over the holidays I was going to get to sleep in before taking on 14.3 at 1pm on Friday with the crew. We moved the WOD to our Burnet location to avoid the dreaded SXSW traffic…and let me tell you it was plenty!
I got there early to warm up and finalize my plan…I wasn’t alone. Many of my teammates were up there so we shared ideas and our plans in effort to help each other out…we are teammates…its what we do…its why we are good. I opted to go in Heat 2. With all the people that needed film, we all were either judging, keeping track of ppls rounds or lifting. Needless to say we were all BUSY! Since my good looking photographer was hired to take pics at this event, Lubke of the 6:30am GGRX class took my video..thank you!
First heat I judged the famous Jessica Estrada…
This gal…my best friend and forever training partner…has one hell of a story…you should check out her blog! After watching her dominate this workout…she gave me a few tips…
Then I was up. First it was deadlift,
then step aerobics…I mean box step ups….
I had one goal and that was to knock out as many of the 205s as possible. I had Carey as my judge who also knew my plan and kept me on track. She helped me through every transition.
I finished with a score of 169 which means I made it through ALL my 205s and completed 9 box jump/steps! HUGE thanks to the the crew that made the atmosphere so full of energy it is hard not to go full throttle!
Also thanks to Sylvia who is a first time athlete who also came to cheer us on..not only during 14.3 but during 14.2 as well. I’m so proud of you and the athlete you are becoming! Your mindset has shifted and your confidence has grown…its fun to watch you grow!! Keep on dominating…we are rooting for you!!
Also big thanks to my sponsors Rock Materials, Grayhawk Insurance and V23!

How on earth do I not have any pictures from 14.2??? This is CRAZY! Oh well this one was stupid any ways…mainly because I’m not a fan of C2B pull ups LOL. This one went as follow…
Every 3 minutes for as long as possible complete:
From 0:00-3:00
2 rounds of:
10 overhead squats
10 chest-to-bar pull-ups
From 3:00-6:00
2 rounds of:
12 overhead squats
12 chest-to-bar pull-ups
From 6:00-9:00
2 rounds of:
14 overhead squats
14 chest-to-bar pull-ups
Etc., following same pattern until you fail to complete both rounds
MEN – includes Masters Men up to 54 years old
95-lb. overhead squats
Chest-to-bar pull-ups
WOMEN – includes Masters Women up to 54 years old
65-lb. overhead squats
Chest-to-bar pull-ups
After watching the release on Thursday night with the crew. I went home and thought, “you knew those pesky chest to bar pull ups were coming”. I knew I had to take care of my hands and move fast on the overhead squats to give me time for the pull ups (weakness…major weakness…yes I’m working on it).
Friday came and I set out to do the workout on Friday at 1pm with my normal crew. I set up my bar and pull up station very close so transition would be quick. I also wore grips on my hands to prevent from tearing…I’m a wuss when I tear. I also set up to boxes to straddle so I wouldn’t have to drop all the way down off the pull up bar. I just touched my chest and then back to the box. I also had the cutest camera guy this side of the Mississippi…Mr. Rabah Rahil with Rabah Rahil Photography doing my video.
It started with OHS then to pull ups and back to OHS…The first couple of rounds were not to bad, because I got rest. Then when the finish of 14 came and I had to walk right over to my bar and start squatting I knew it was “go time”. I stayed with my plan until the last bit, then it was just doubles. I don’t think I ever did a single…but I could be wrong. I finished with a score of 196….thats into the 2nd round of 16 C2B pull ups. ugh. I knew that wasn’t what I needed. I wanted 200 like Kantola.
I knew I was going to have to redo that one. So on Saturday I realized I could join some other girls at 10am on Monday to redo 14.2. I did and same set up…I just had a different camera person…and I moved faster on my OHS so I had more time at the bar. I was able to get 3 more reps making my score a 199. YES I’m glad I redid it…however fingers crossed that is the ONLY one I will have to redo.
Bring it on 14.3…
