Call me old but I have always wanted a craft/wrapping room. Since I’m out of rooms in my house, pinterest and google image made the closet idea possible. So I started researching and pinteresting, pinteresting and research. “Pinning” what I like in one, “saving the image” of what I liked in another until I was ready to go to work.
With measurements, a tape measure, and lots of ideas I went to Lowes. I wasn’t 100% sure of the appropriate materials…but if you walk around and look lost, someone will take pitty on you and help you out (and tell you how to get on the wifi). This is where I met Sam. Sam looked at my ideas and said my idea was simple and helped me make some cuts in a board (desk), peg board for the back wall and both sides as well as supports for it all. I think I impressed him with my ideas/knowledge of building….thanks to my Daddy! Sam and I gathered materials and headed to the cutting area. Its stated that the 1st 5 cuts are free and then they charge after that. We did more than 5 cuts and I don’t remember paying for any extra cuts…THANKS SAM!
To prevent a LONG post…here is how it went down:
1. PAINT. Prime the “desk” board and add 1st coat on the peg board. Finish the painting in between trips to the hardware store and drilling and hanging frames.
2. FRAME. Add the frame pieces to the wall for peg board.
3. HANG. The back peg board was hung. I really like pegboard because the hooks/shelves are not permanent. If I don’t like a shelf where it is, thenI just move it…no holes in the walls or rehanging a shelf. I added the side peg boards after the desk. They were framed out just like the back peg board.
4. DESK. Add in back support piece for desk while desk is wedge between the pegboard and back support (I wish I had a picture of this, the desk was balanced on a stack of books which were stacked on the safe to hold the board in place so I could get a flat level). After the back piece was added the side pieces were added…failed and (thanks to Rabah) a shelf bracket was used. Later I added a 2nd bracket for extra support.
5. SHOP. Accessories can be found at Michael’s and Joannes and there are always coupons to make these items really cheap and affordable. I bought 4 different shelves that are hung with hooks on the peg board at Michael’s for $10/shelf (originally $17.99) + coupon. I got boxes at Michaels and Joannes…all with coupons. I also got an awesome, fancy cutting mat at Joannes that I can use for cutting or a flat surface for writing/gluing/whatever I want.
Total Time: 1 REALLY long freaking weekend.
Total Trips to Hardware Stores: Way to many!
Total Cost: $284.43
Worth it: YES!
Things to add:

Fights with BF: 1, but we recovered. I’m hardheaded and independent.
It has been 30-ish days since the “90 Day Calendar” post and I said I would check back in. How are things? Did you print off your calendar labs document and get to work? What momentum have you built off your 1st 30 days of hard work?
I honestly would love to hear how you have applied and used the “90 Day Calendar” to make LEAPS towards your goal.
