“Pure Consciousness is pure potentiality; it is the field of all possibilities and infinite creativity” (p.9)
“Self Referral” (p.10)
Internal Reference Point = own spirit, not the objects of our experience
Self-Power is permanent
Object- Referral”
Internal Reference Point = Ego
Ego-Based Power only last as long as the object last
“Today I shall judge nothing that occurs”
Discussion:
How do I get to “pure consciousness”?
How often do you live life in “Object Referral” vs “self referral”? How can you change to make sure you live in “self referral” more?
Meditation – 30mins 2x/day…WHAT?
Time with Nature….
Application (pg. 23)
I don’t listen to the radio. I use the time in my car to reflect on what the day has to offer or what the day offered…depending upon if I’m coming or going.
I’m really going to up my plans to build an awesome deck with a chase lounge so I can enjoy things nature has to offer.
Written on mirror: “Today I shall judge nothing that occurs” (p.17). I have added the thought of “including myself”. Sometimes I find myself comparing myself to others…downgrading myself. Talk about object referral!
1 teaspoon pure chile powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 whole skinless, boneless chicken breast (about 1 pound), cut into 1/2-inch strips
coconut oil
1 red & green bell pepper—cored, seeded and cut into thin strips
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
Red leaf lettuce, chopped
2 avocados, diced
2-3 tomatoes, chopped
pecans, toasted (just enough to add “crunch”)
In a resealable plastic bag, combine the chile powder with the salt, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, water and 1 tablespoons of the oil. Add the chicken, knead gently to coat and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Heat a small amount of coconut oil over med high heat until hot and sautee your bell peppers and onion in batches until they reach desired tenderness. Set aside.
Empty the contents of the bag into the skillet and cook over med-high heat, stirring occasionally, until chicken is cooked through. Remove from the heat and stir in the lime juice.
In a large bowl, mix together the lettuce, avocado, tomatoes and pecans. At this point, you can either dump all veggies and chicken in the salad bowl and mix, or you can put salad on individual plates (large plates!) and have everyone add whatever amount of sauteed veggies and chicken they desire.
Optional: When mixing the salad ingredients in the bowl, you can mix an olive oil/balsamic vinaigrette dressing and pour a small amount to mix in the salad.
This book was given to me as a gift from a friend of mine who started out as my athlete when I coached at Jack and Adams. This athlete has remained my friend and little does he know he plays a great role in reminding me of alof of things in life. I would encourage you to grab a friend that doesn’t mind discussing “lifes concepts” with you, no matter how “cheesy” they are.
I started this book but I was just reading it, bad move. Its not a long book so take the time to sit down and really be present with the reading. Re read sentences, words, paragraphs. Let the words sit with you for a second, you can thank me later.
If you are like me and normally skip over or skim through the “Introduction” sections of books, take the time to read the Introduction section of this book. On page 2, the author “defines” success in think in the most clear definition possible. Deepak doesn’t put a dollar amount on the word, he doesn’t put an educational level on it either. He simply states, “success is a journey, not a destination”. Let that sit with you. As a huge goal setter…set a goal, put a date, reach it, and repeat…this was an eye opener. Sometimes it isn’t about the end result or when you achieve the goal OR even if you reach the goal, but its about the path on how you approach the goal and your journey to reach it. He states, “success also includes good health, energy and enthusiasm for life, fulfilling relationships, creative freedom, emotional and psychological stability, a sense of well-being, and peace of mind.” Again, no dollar amount was added, its all about the journey. How do you define success? Would you consider yourself successful?
Before he goes into the first “law” he defines the term “law”. He refers to “law” as an action verb, when I have always considered it a noun…but then again I wasn’t the best at english. Deepak define’s law (p.3-4) as, “the process by which the unmanifest becomes the manifest; its the process by which the observer becomes the observed; its the process by which the seer becomes the scenery; its the process through which the dreamer manifest the dream”. I don’t know about you but sign me up, I want every part of this!
Looking forward to hearing how this book effects your life!
The other day a friend of mine made a comment about not having a gym membership so he was going to do “The Rapture”. This started me thinking about why do you need a “gym membership”…why do people join a global gym? Now, I’m probably going to get frowned upon for this post but its my blog and if you dont like where it is going, stop reading. I think when people join “global gyms” they are looking for “community”. They are going to make friends with people that share a common intrest, I have been guilty of this. Just some raddling thoughts…I joined a “global gym” and alot of times it was this:
Where I was the only one running on the treadmill…lame… no one to talk to OR the “cardio machines”/weights were so packed with people on their phones or wearing headphones that even I couldn’t start a conversation other than a funky body language to ask them how many more sets they have. So I thought I would join the classes they offered. Having been an Group X instructor it is a pain in the a** when clients/members/athletes have chatter when you are trying to instruct. So in order to show respect, I kept to myself. I have joined this gym to meet people and it has been an epic fail. On top of all that, these people didn’t care if I was daily or not. They didn’t care that I needed the workout more for the mental that day vs the physical. In July 2009 I found a community that took me in and made me successful. When I wasn’t there, it was a facebook/twitter/email message asking me where I was…and it wasn’t just from my Coach. I had become part of a team, I had to be there to cheer my fellow athletes along when we suffered through things like, “Cindy” or “Angie”…heck I even paid to do stuff like “Murph” so I could be there with my teammates. My teammates looked like this…no ear phones, strong and lean, and we travled in a pack!
With all that ramble manble jumble, you can get a good workout in outside, you don’t NEED to break the bank for a “global gym” membership…ask any of my athletes. You NEED a community! This can be your spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, your parents, your friends…build a community that will pick you up on the days you are low. I have always said and I will say it again:
