Crossfit Central Lean Turkey’s started their challenge with a goal setting meeting with the famous Ms. Carey Kepler! Carey was able to take the concept of Goal Setting and make it very simple. I thought it was too good not to share. She encourage all of our athletes to set “S.M.A.R.T. Goals“.
Specific. Make sure your goal is specific. Don’t just say “I want to wake up earlier”; how much earlier. How much do you want to decrease your body fat by? Measurable. The goal needs to be able to be measured. “I want to lose weight by Dec.2012”. How are you doing to measure that goal? Attainable. The goal should be realistic within the time frame. If you have a 6 week challenge, losing 100# within that 6wks isn’t realistic. Relevant. The goal should be relevant to the “challenge”. If you are in a healthy challenge, your goal should be, “I want to save X amount”. Time. The goal should have an end date. You want to lose 5% body fat by when?
Setting “SMART Goals” can be useful and helpful for all areas of your life! Once the goals have been written, use dry erase makers and write them on your mirror so you can see them every day!
“Attachement, on the other hand, is based on fear and insecurity – and the need for security is based on not knowing the true Self” (p.84)
“Those who seek security chase it for a lifetime without ever finding it” (p.86)
Discussion:
What are some areas in your life you consider yourself to be attached to?
Why is detachment so hard?
Application:
I will do my best not to look at everything as a start and finish. I will detach myself form the ridged planned out life I live
I will trust and not panic when I don’t have an answer or a plan. I will accept unertainty and look at it as a blessing with opening doors to new possiblities (WISH ME LUCK ON THIS ONE)
I will remain open to new possibilities and everything they have to offer.
Side Note: I find it funny and ironic that this is the chapter/law that has effected me the most but yet my review about it is the least wordy. interesting.
“The only difference between you and a tree is the informational and energy content of your respective bodies.” (p.68)
“I am that, you are that, all this is that, and thats all there is” (p.69)
“Intention is the real power behind desire.” (p.73)
“Your intent is for the future, but your attention is in the present” (p.73)
“Interpretations of abstract forces create the experience of the past, anticipatory interpretations of hte same abstract forces create the future.” (p.74)
“Learn to harness the power of intention, and can create anything you desire” (p.75-6)
Discussion:
Why have we seen a repeat of the word “consciousness” in many of the laws?
How can you help your intentions generate their own power?
Slip into the gap.
Estabilish in that state of being, release your intentions and esires
REmain in the state of self-referral.
Relinquish your attachment to the outcome.
Let the universe handle the details.
Application:
I have made a list of my desires on an index card.
Reminding myself NOT to panic when things don’t go as I see them planned. Everything happens for a reason.
BE PRESENT IN EVERYTING!! In Strength Finder 2.0 I discovered my #1 strength is “futuristic”, which is AWESOME because I can see BIG picture stuff BUT I struggle to stay present because I’m always thinking about the next class, the next session, the next day, etc (yes, it gets tiring LOL).
