14.1Crew

For the next 5 (now 4) Thursday nights at 7pm you will find me focused on my ipad/TV/iPhone…some sort of device with internet…watching the release of the Reebok Crossfit Open WOD for that week. This past Thursday was only the beginning. For those that don’t know…The Open is the 1st step in qualifying for the Crossfit Games held in July. The top 48 in The Open qualify for The Region, then the top 3 from Regionals go to The Games. Meaning…this is a BIG deal and a HUGE part of, “The Road To The Games.” They release The Open WODs on Thursday nights at 7pm and you have till Monday at 7pm to submit your score.

Last Thursday they released the 14.1 WOD. It was a repeat of 11.1:

10min AMRAP

30 Double Unders

15 Snatches (75/55#)

I quickly looked for my score from 11.1 which can be found on my old blog HERE. I MUST beat that score, LOL! I did my WOD on Friday, just incase I needed to redo it over the weekend. I kindly asked the famous Ingrid Kantola if I could work next to her so I could chase her, and she kindly let me. I of course had  (and needed) my best friend and training partner, Jessica Estrada, as my judge. Since this year we have to be filmed, I found the best looking and best camera man, Rabah Rahil, (check out his photo website HERE) to film me. I wore my red lulu tank that I wear darn near every time I compete along with my black lulu head band and then my sponsor’s logos…Grayhawk, Rock Materials, and V23.

At 3-2-1 GO…I did my 1st set of DUs…messing up 1x…thank you un-warmmed goofy ankle, LOL! I then moved to snatches. I went back and forth between the couplet with unbroken reps during each set (except for the 1st DU goof up). After 10mins I was wooped and my grip was SHOT! I was glad it was over.

I told myself NOT to check the leaderboard all weekend…and I didn’t. I did think about it…ALOT. Over the weekend I did watch Samantha Brigg’s 14.1 and I even re watched mine on Sunday. Could I have made up time? Yes. BUT would it have cost me some reps trying to transition faster? Probably. I am in a region with AWESOME ladies and knew they were going to give me a run for my money, theses little details matter! I told myself if I was going to redo it, I was going to do it on Monday giving my body some rest…even though I trained on Saturday.

When I walked into training on Monday, I had doubts and LOTS of them. Do I re do? Do I not? I walked in the door and was quickly informed that Carey Kepler beat me by 2 reps…grrr! Good thing she is a bad a$$ and I was okay with that…told you awesome women in my region! I decided not to redo the workout and train like normal on Monday. I just wanted to put “money in the bank” for when my weaknesses come up…aka vertical pulls of any sort LOL!

I finished 14.1 placing 13th in the region. I’ll take that. On to the next one!
