Beet

Yep, Beet Shots. After Living Amped’s athlete Pam read Pamela LaBlanc‘s article in the paper on beet shots, she thought she would give it a try. The article states that, “For athletes, the benefit comes from more oxygen reaching the muscle — and more efficient removal of waste products, like lactic acid, that can impair athletic performance. It also helps generate more energy for muscle contraction.” Being an endurance athlete she was very open to the idea, especially since it seemed like a helpful, natural supplement. The packaging is convenient for anyone on the go, she ordered a box and brought me a sample. Below is my review:

Taste: Unpleasant, I’m not sure what I was expecting but I’m having to force myself to finish the last few sips, or I might pour them out.

Price: Mine was a free sample and I have not asked what she paid for for the box.

Nutrition Value: I do think beets/root veggies are of strong value in the diet, I just don’t think this is the form.

Convient: The packaging makes it very easy to “grab and go”, however when I opened up the package to pour it into my bottle, some got on my fingers leaving them pink. It came off with soap and water, but its something to think about if you are going into a place where you don’t want pink fingers.

Overall: Even though the article had great references on the benefits of “beet juice” (not necessarily this product), I’m glad I tried the product however I will not purchase a box for myself. I’ll stick to Spark!
